A person moving to Houston should be prepared to immerse themselves in a city filled with vibrant culture, diverse ethnic cuisines, and beautiful urban parks. It is a city like no other. Before I moved here I heard a lot about Houston’s reputation as being the most diverse city in America, but I could only really appreciate what that meant after moving here. I could think of any cuisine or food fusion and know that I will probably be able to find it somewhere in Houston – whether it’s some spicy drunken noodles from a Thai restaurant or a Mexican-Korean fusion bowl from a food truck around the block. I strongly believe that Houston is a city where people from any background can feel at home.

Houston is the fourth most populous city and is a diverse city with many cultures. The city is a large metropolis, extending to Galveston Bay. Houston has a large Theater District downtown and is home to many upscale restaurants. Houston is also home to many major sports leagues, including the MLB Houston Astros, NFL Houston Texans and NBA Houston Rockets.

Houston caters to everyone and their identity. Houston has a little something for everyone, whether it be the art murals downtown or tailgating at the Texans games. One of Houston’s biggest attractions is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo that takes place every year. This event is something most Houstonians look forward to because of the diverse food options, variety of music choices and the carnival. Houston is diverse when it comes down to food options. Wherever you find yourself in Houston there will certainly be a variety of national food cuisine to be offered.

Houston has big money oil and gas businesses. Houston has Houston Rockets, who have not won a championship since the mid 90’s the Houston Texans, and diversity that most of the state hasn’t seen. Downtown there are authentic Thai and Vietnamese restaurants, an aquarium with the large ferris wheel and the Minute Maid park and Toyota Center. While the NBA team may not have been able to get any more rings since 1994 and 1995, it is still full of superstars. From the Beard and Brodie, Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker, and the Rockets Managements, it’s clearly an excellent team.

If you want to come to Houston you need to know it usually hot during year-round and barely even snows during winter. Downtown Houston is beautiful and has office buildings where people work. Midtown is right across from downtown and that’s are where a lot of apartments are.

The urban setting downtown draws a younger, working crowd as a large university sits in the city’s center. Filled with skyscrapers and city lights, Houston has character unique to the occupants that encourages opportunities and acceptance.

Houston has a wide range of food cultures to southern burgers from “The Burger Joint” to Chinese food from “The Rice Box”. Houston is home to NASA and an assortment of museums. Houston also has a vast amount location which are perfect for dates, including the community favorite the “Color Factory”. Buffalo Bayou is also perfect for a stroll or run. The routes within the park are perfect for pictures to capture the enormous building in downtown Houston. The Houston Zoo is also home to many animals. The zoo includes many fans around the park to keep cool in the summer. The Zoo also decorates for the holidays as well.

Houston is a huge city in Texas. It’s filled with bustling businesses downtown, diversity, and plenty of restaurants to eat in. But what makes it really shine is the nightlife, which occurs mostly during Fridays and Saturdays -weekends. And I recommend trying Houstonians favorite brunch spots on Sundays. Should you want to move, there’s plenty of opportunities to find in Houston.

If you’re moving to Houston, inquire about jobs before, as the recent economic downturn has hit the oil and gas industry in Houston particularly hard.

If moving to Houston, know traffic in downtown Houston is awful, drivers are known to be reckless, and walking everywhere in summer heat is not an option. Ubers hand Lyft have become extremely popular, however, they are pricey. A bus pass would be the best option financially and for convenience as well.

Houston is very illustrious and full of opportunity. The job market is booming and provides a unique sense of security. move to an area close to the major freeways such as the Heights. This area is located approximately northwest of downtown. If you keep these things in mind, I am sure your experience will be satisfactory.
