Living in Tucson, Arizona:
Tips for Moving and Visiting

The city is surrounded by mountains on 3 sides and encircled by a paved bike and walking trail that is about 130 miles total. So there is a lot of opportunity for exercise and being in nature within minutes of almost anywhere. If you love a blended and diverse culture, Tucson has a Mexican, Native American and diverse influence. It’s rich with old architecture, Mexican food and music and a friendliness and sense of history and continuity throughout the ages that many places lack in the US. Also, there is a pretty vibrant arts and music scene and great murals all over the city, as well as the University of Arizona that offers and draws interesting art and lecture series. I love Tucson. But beware that it is a little rough around the edges. The mountains, the desert are beautiful but the city itself is not such a pretty city to drive around in due to chain link fences and rocks for landscaping.

If you’re moving to Tucson you will need to know that the traffic in Tucson has become horrible during certain times of the day. What used to take 5-10 minutes to travel now can take 1 hr. We get a lot of snowbirds, Rodeo fans and Jem Show tourist which adds to our bursting at the seams traffic. The price of housing, rental or buying has gone up, but it still is better than Phoenix.

It’s very warm here in the summer. We have amazing Mexican food here.

Tucson is a very scenically beautiful city, with mountains, flowers, and all kinds of birds. It also gets very hot here, with temperatures reaching triple digits. It can rain, and pour down hard during the Monsoon season.

Tucson is an historic city with a broad offering of educational and cultural interests. The diversity of the Old Pueblo is enhanced by the vibrant presence of a large university. Summer weather can be a challenge to newcomers, but fall, winter and spring are delightful, bringing a variety of unique plants that bloom for everyone’s enjoyment.

Before moving to Tucson a new resident should know: It is a desert, it does get hot, but it’s a dry heat. It has a very homey feel to it once your in. Summer time I can cook an egg over medium on the concrete sidewalk in about three and a half minutes.

Tucson is a remarkably flourishing city in the Southwestern United States, surrounded on all sides by mountains. In summer it can get rather hot, to the point of being uncomfortable, but falls and winters are pleasant and mild. The population is especially diverse, and the local culture reflects that.

Tucson, AZ is a very amazing place. I have only lived here or a couple of years, but everyone has been welcoming. If you are from the Midwest, winters here are great, low 50 degree weather. However, summers do get very hot, highest I’ve seen has been 115 degrees.

If a person moves to Tucson, they need to keep hot weather in mind. The temperature raises over 100 degrees regularly, and it almost never snows. Expect to put on sunscreen most days of the year if spending time outside is part of a hobby. It also might be a good idea to buy a house with a pool.

Tucson is predominantly a retirement town, and most of her residents are adults who have or will soon reach their golden years. The environment is hot and dry, which can be quite beneficial for those suffering from arthritis or allergy. Even though the population exceeds one million residents, it has the feel of a smaller, friendly rural town.

Someone moving to Tucson should know the streets are often riddled with potholes. Attempts to fix this issue are made through constant construction, though this typically causes further traffic delays. Tucson is bike-friendly and walkable. However, you choose to get around, a trip down 4th Avenue or to the UA campus will be worth your time.

City like Tuscon- If someone love mountains, then it’s a paradise for them surrounded all by the wide pace of mountain range. Being on outskirts has its own perks, like fresh air, pollution free sky. All adventure lovers come to this place to continue their adrenaline running with the sports like- mountain climbing, running, Hiking, Biking etc. Not just the adventure, here you will find one of the finest Mexican food.
