Traffic. People are rude in their cars but nice outside of them. Big roaches. Big mosquitos. Brutal summers. No real winter. Invest in layers, the weather can change 4 times a day. When you get settled in, you’ll eventually find the things that make you happy: Good food, sports, theater, all the arts, excellent museums, an INCREDIBLE park (Memorial Park). It’s there, you just have to find it.

Houston has diverse cultures, different aspects from several foreign countries, and great athletic teams. From art expression to the outdoor activities here there is never a dull moment. The local Graffiti Park has history painted all over from Houston legendary rappers to murals of professional teams. Many come here to simply consume the rich vibrant color from the art. In the heart of the city lies a huge park named Discovery Green which highlights the greenery inside the park. Colloquially known as H-Town to residents, I have fallen in love with this Bayou City since relocating. The resilience and togetherness of the people, diversity in every arena, and the solidarity compounded by the Houston Texans, Rockets, Astros, and Dynamo teams have helped me find my place of belonging in the fourth largest city in this country.
