Wilmington is a port city, known for its commerce and vibrant college community. The latter centers around the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW), which features a very strong Film Studies department due to Wilmington’s former glory as a go-to location for Hollywood films. Although Wilmington is on the coast, it is not far from many other major North Carolina cities; Raleigh is about a two-hour drive away, and Asheville is only four hours distant. However, if one is considering moving to Wilmington, the most important thing to consider is the weather. The heat and humidity of its Southern climate can be oppressive for most of the year, and those who like cooler, drier weather are advised to look elsewhere.

Our city is on the coast of North Carolina. It is a growing city with many new businesses and housing developments opening up daily. If you would like to live where the weather is nice year-round, and especially if you enjoy beach, Wilmington is a great place to consider moving!
