Home of FT Fisher, and many other Civil War battlefields. Also the home of the Azaleas Festival in April alongside the beautiful Cape Fear River.

Wilmington is a port city, known for its commerce and vibrant college community. The latter centers around the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW), which features a very strong Film Studies department due to Wilmington’s former glory as a go-to location for Hollywood films. Although Wilmington is on the coast, it is not far from many other major North Carolina cities; Raleigh is about a two-hour drive away, and Asheville is only four hours distant. However, if one is considering moving to Wilmington, the most important thing to consider is the weather. The heat and humidity of its Southern climate can be oppressive for most of the year, and those who like cooler, drier weather are advised to look elsewhere.

Wilmington is, for better or for worse, a city that’s still developing. As with anything else, there’s both a good and a bad side to that. While the air is cleaner than any city I’ve ever been in- permeated with the scent of the sea to boot, someone used to cities would likely miss the hustle and bustle of living in a heavily populated industrial area.

Our city is on the coast of North Carolina. It is a growing city with many new businesses and housing developments opening up daily. If you would like to live where the weather is nice year-round, and especially if you enjoy beach, Wilmington is a great place to consider moving!

Our beaches are beautiful and scenic with locally caught fish. Downtown Wilmington is a historic adventure complemented by our Cotton Exchange shopping experience. Finally, the restaurants are a variety of bars and pubs, even historic for nights of good fun and delicious food. Also, don’t forget to check out our Ghost Walk Adventure!

Wilmington is a coastal city that has breathtaking views of the beach. The housing is affordable, and the schools are highly rated. We are home to Screen Gems, which is a large movie studio that brings in a lot of jobs to the area. One of the biggest drawbacks is the horrible water quality. Our water is not safe to drink because of Gen-X, which is a chemical that has been dumped into our water system for over 30 years.

If moving to Wilmington, know there is a lot of traffic. Wilmington started out as a small college town, but the population has grown by astonishing numbers over the past several years. As people continue to move here, the roads become more and more congested.

When moving to Wilmington, it is essential for one to be aware of the film industry. Television shows such as “One Tree Hill” and “Dawson’s Creek” have used the pristine boardwalk as a backdrop. The town is in close proximity to many universities including the University of North Carolina Wilmington and Duke University.

Wilmington is an old city with a rich history. To understand the culture of the city, one must have a walk through historic downtown and along the river walk. There, one can find plaques explaining the history of each structure and the people who lived and worked in the area.

Wilmington is a smaller city on the North Carolina coastline. It has come very far in the past few years. Though many of the original buildings and structures from 20 to 30 years ago still stand, it has developed into the perfect community for families and young adults going to the local colleges. Access to the beach isn’t far, and any resource you need is within a few miles. Although has been modernized in some ways, it is still a perfectly balanced and humble place for anyone.
