Durban is the hub of KwaZulu-Natal, as it is a city that attracts tourists all year round. Durban July is one of the popular events that is hosted in my city and attracts thousands of people from different parts of South Africa.

My city is known for its beautiful weather, people go as far as saying it has two seasons; summer and summer. It’s airport is named after the greatest King to ever exist. King Shaka Zulu was known for winning many battles all over the province. Therefore you will predominantly find more Zulu speaking tribes in the province because this is the land that King Shaka conquered for his beloved nation.

Durban is a natural paradise, well-known for its beautiful, sun-kissed beaches. The city is also home to one of the busiest ports in Africa. Durban accounts for 15% of South Africa’s national output, second only to Johannesburg. Shaka, the great warrior king of the Zulus (today still South Africa’s largest ethnic group) continues to spearhead Durban’s modern expansion via the King Shaka International Airport.

Durban, and KwaZulu-Natal as a province, has the largest population of Indians outside of India. We are also known to be the home of the dish Bunny Chow, which is hollowed-out white bread filled with delicious curry.

Durban is one of South Africa’s beautiful holiday destinations, it has a lot to offer: the beaches – Surfers will enjoy this activity, the Museum for all the history you need to know, uShaka Marine World has amazing wildlife and water parks for children, not forgetting the great diverse foods; Indian spices will take you to Indian farms where it was harvested, the Zulu home made meals, we have to offer will leave you wanting more.

It is a great holiday destination which I now call home. The atmosphere is great and the people here are bubbly and kind. The best places to see or visit are the beach, Ushaka Marine World and King Shangan Museum. The Indian spicy food is a delicacy that should never be missed by any visitor.

The december holidays are the biggest holidays in Durban because that’s when people spend time with their family and friends.
