Welkom is a small mining town, known for its jovial and very welcoming residents. The most common spoken language in Welkom is Sesotho followed by English, then Afrikaans. However, just like the rest of South Africa, we are a rainbow nation. There isn’t much to do for entertainment in our town, however, we have an array of restaurants that one can visit. We have a local swimming pool which is loved by little children and just across the pool, you can find the Goldfields mall which will fulfill all your shopping needs.

It is not a safe place, therefore whenever they go somewhere, they should learn to put their valuable items safe at all time. It is a nice place to explore and creating memories would be best done here. The way you carry yourself will be the key to how people view you as a person.

The city of Welkom is a beautiful place to live and enjoy the beautiful outdoor activities, but, as beautiful as it is there are also some difficulties of living in Welkom. It is not safe to walk late at night in the neighborhood because there are a lot of trouble makers that might want to take advantage of you especially women and children.

When driving in my city, Welkom, people should know our roads contain many roundabouts or circles as we call them here. Many people are not sure how to drive into or around them so it is important that people are aware that we have them so they do not become confused while driving.

Welkom is a wonderful city filled with many opportunities. Most of these opportunities come from the various mining companies that we have here. We have an active social scene, we host beauty pageants, singing competitions and so much more. Our schools namely Welkom High and Welkom Gimnasium are known to produce top scholars.

The city I reside in is called Welkom. Welkom has a smaller population than cities that are similar to its size. You won’t find more friendly people anywhere in the world and people who reside here become a part of the family. Welkom is most known for its roundabouts and for being the gold capital of the Free State.

Welkom only has one mall, namely, the Goldfields Mall. Our park is Central Park and several events, such as the Candle Light and the Annual Music Festival are held there. Some of streets the of Welkom are named after famous Shakespeare characters and settings, for example, Falstaff Street and Desdemona Street.

It is a very quiet place. It is a rural area with many surrounding shops and schools. You can easily find a job if you jobless. Many people visit our place just for peace and quietness. There’s not many entertainment areas but you can find places and entertain yourself.

Welkom has a lot of mining infrastructure. It’s a beautiful city with a beautiful shopping centre called Goldfields Mall. Farming is one of the things that are interesting in my city. There also are lots of open spaces.
