If you are moving to Raleigh, you should try find a place to rent/buy on the North side. It’s very safe, near the airport, close to shopping areas, banks, restaurants, etc. Also close to all IT industry. You must have a vehicle because very few people ride buses here. Unless you live downtown, the business district, you drive everywhere but distances are not too long. I am only 3 miles from all my shopping, banking, eating, etc. needs.

Raleigh is full of surprises. There is a diverse selection of restaurants, and the overall culture is very steady and predictable. Many people work for science and technology companies, and as the region grows, house prices continue to rise. It is between the mountains and the beach, so traveling opportunities are endless.

The housing market in Raleigh moves very quickly; if you’re hoping to buy a house, you should be prepared to make an offer almost as soon as you hear about an interesting listing! If you try to wait even a day, someone else’s offer is likely to have been accepted, and to have taken the house off the market.
