It’s a city with a small-town feel. You’ll need a car to fully explore the Triangle region, and housing is expensive. The people are nice and it’s pretty easy to make friends since the academic and technology focused economy means a lot of people move in from other areas. It’s less insular than other Southern cities.

Raleigh is the capital of the State of North Carolina. It is called the “City of Oaks”. The city is growing rapidly and has become well known for its laid back, yet urban feel. Part of this charm is caused by developers purchasing land in the downtown, where poorer residents used to live, and replacing those houses with more expensive homes – driving the cost of housing up and causing long-time residents to see the effects of gentrification throughout the inner parts of the city.

We also have the best sweet tea from Bojangles, and you have to try cookout. Cookout is a well-known thing in NC. After every event, it is tradition to go to cookout afterward.
