Civic responsibility is taught early on in Madison. It is taught that service work through volunteering builds character and helps the community as a whole. Most of the students do service work at one of the local retirement homes, food share or summer camps. The Deacon John Grave House is a historic site that was built in 1681 on the southeast corner of the town green. The Grave’s House provided a home for nine generations of Graves, and is now a landmark that holds Santa book reading events, Halloween Trick or Treat parties, dinners and silent auctions.

Someone who is interested in moving to Madison, CT should understand that it is a small suburban town. Madison has many beaches and parks. This makes it a nice family environment. The public schools in this town have impeccable reputations and most parents would be extremely satisfied with the education that his or her child would receive.
