Frederick is an affordable bedroom community of the Baltimore/Washington DC area with a great downtown, community spirit, and recreation from the parks to the mountains, yet the city and beaches are doable as well.

Frederick is a very historical city. The area called Old Frederick has plenty of shopping and activities. Housing prices in the city of Frederick can be very high. It is common for people to live in the less expensive suburbs and commute to work. Frederick is like a big city with a small town feel.

Anyone moving to Frederick should know rent has increased substantially due to the prevalence of commuters who previously lived in Montgomery County. The prices of homes and apartments have risen sharply over the past three years. Other than that, Frederick is a very pleasant place.
