Vallejo is a microcosm of California with the great things and terrible things intertwined. The great things are its diversity, close proximity to nature and culture, and of course, being on the Bay, so the climate is near perfect. The terrible things are the high cost of living, homelessness, sideshows and other lawlessness, and the traffic on I-80 when you want to go somewhere. My advice is to choose your home by the neighborhood and get to know the neighbors before you buy. You can fix a house but you can’t fix your neighbors or neighborhood. They are what makes or breaks it on living in Vallejo.

Vallejo is a great city for exploring the history of downtown, however, it’s not exactly the safest or most cost-friendly area. Love the residency here and housing is cheaper than other places around the Bay Area.
