If you’re new to Kochi or are moving here. Here are some things you need to keep in mind:
1. It rains a lot here, so always remember to carry an umbrella with yourself whenever leaving the house.
2. If you’re a non-Keralite you might face some language issues. It’s always safe to talk in English with the locals instead of Hindi as they might misinterpret you.
3. Most people in Kerala are non-vegetarians and even eat beef, so if you’re an orthodox Hindu your preference should be to eat only at pure vegetarian restaurants.
4. Protests or ‘hartals’ as the locals call it are really a common sight here.
5. If you’re not a south Indian, I’d suggest you to better learn to wear a dhoti as a lot of temples here don’t allow entry of men if you’re not wearing one.
6. Never ever take a KSRTC bus as the drivers of these are really famous for fast and reckless driving instead take a metro or call an Uber.
