While quality of life is something of an elusive or ill-defined concept, it can be boiled down to "Is Sacramento a good place to live?" or "Is Sacramento a bad place to live?" Here's what six local experts had to say about quality of life and overall happiness in Sacramento, California.

Sacramento and the outskirt towns have become more and more populated, largely because people from the San Francisco Bay Area have been moving up here in droves. Unfortunately, this has driven up the crime rate, the price of housing and the formation of a huge homeless population that is not being addressed effectively by the counties or the State. Sadly, even areas that used to be considered safe and elite are affected by these changes. If there’s anything positive to say about living here, it would be that the housing prices and cost of living are still less than the Bay Area. Access to Tahoe and the foothills still remains good, so it is easy to get out of town to venture into the countryside of various areas. But unless you are wealthy the quality of life has gone down and is not pleasant anymore for the average citizen who has to struggle to work to make ends meet.

It’s a good place to live in Northern California. Between San Francisco Bay area, and Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada area. Summers are warm, but usually with a delta breeze that cools the area down nicely. Sometimes a hard frost in winter, never any snow. Good employment opportunities.

Sacramento gets quite hot in summer. The temperature consistently reaches 100 degrees during June, July, and August. I recommend living in a house or apartment that has a pool. If you don’t have access to a pool, a good air conditioning unit will provide relief from summer heat.

Someone moving to Sacramento should know how simply great of the city is. Compared to larger cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, Sacramento is a more laid-back and slower-paced city. The suburbs are a great place to raise a family, without being too far from the actions of everyday outings and activities. Trips to neighboring cities, beaches, or even mountains can all be done in the same day due to its central location.

Sacramento is the city of trees. Because of this, the air is very clean, and the people are kind. Midtown provides a fun nightlife if you’re in the mood for drinks or karaoke. The rent is not cheap; however, you get what you pay for. I highly recommend living in Sacramento.

It is the capital of California. There are several old museums in Sacramento which is a must visit place and there are more places to visit here. A good place with a very good hotel facilities. I must say it is a tourist friendly place.
