While quality of life is something of an elusive or ill-defined concept, it can be boiled down to "Is Martins Ferry a good place to live?" or "Is Martins Ferry a bad place to live?" Here's what one local expert had to say about quality of life and overall happiness in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

Martins Ferry is small, so it does not have access to bigger stores like Walmart. Those places are about 15 minute away, but there are still some other places to shop and visit in the city. There is a large park where yearly they do an art festival and sell fruits. There is also another time where they have the road of sales, where they have yard sales and other sellers with tents selling goods. There are some Mom and Pop places, which helps keep business showing up in town. Hanover, which is right on the edge, is family owned. They sell ribs off the smoker every Friday. All other days, excluding Sunday, they sell burgers or sandwiches and can deliver. Martins Ferry, while small, is a nice place even if you do have to drive 15 minutes to get to a major retailer. The roads are nice to drive through, so it doesn’t make the trip that much of a slog.
