We experience power cuts quite often and gruesome crimes against women and children are common. However, we do not have a shortage of facilities: Shopping malls, schools, and police stations are well within reach.

It is a very alluring pace to reside in. Very green and has warm residents. A lot of municipality services are available such as courts and police force departments. Known to be safe as well and has a lot of job opportunities. There are great schools so if you have children, you are sorted.

Johannesburg is considered the economic hub for South Africa’s economy and houses the JSE (Johannesburg Stock Exchange). We have two of the most elite universities and two major business schools. It is close to Soweto, the most prominent township, where Nelson Mandela stayed before being arrested and Bishop Desmond Tutu.

It would be helpful to know that the traffic is quite an irritation and when travelling, time delays should be taken into consideration. The weather is usually warm and there is little rain in the winter. Remain friendly when approaching police officers and government officials, at home affair institutions as this could aid in avoiding conflict.

It is imperative to note that life in Johannesburg is diverse and multicultural. Having a car as means of travel is crucial as the public transport network is not very reliable. Many suburbs have either malls or shopping centers so access to basic daily essentials is within more or less five miles. The local and national police services are satisfactory in terms of reaction time to a distress call or arrive at a crime or accident scene therefore, it would be handy to have the contact details of the community security patrol as they are in each suburb especially in the norths of Johannesburg.
