With housing instability and inflation on the rise, here's what four local experts had to say about homelessness in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Johannesburg is a very dangerous place. A large portion of it is poverty stricken and as a result it is full of gang related crimes. A new resident should always have someone (that knows the city very well) to show them around and teach them how to keep safe. This is essential to be able to avoid gang activity within the city.

Johannesburg is a very busy city it can be too busy at times and so one should be very careful during those busy times because it can get unsafe and security is usually scarce in this city. There are a lot of beggars on the streets and many of the lm are usually desperate and so be careful not to be manipulated by them and get mugged or scammed.

Johannesburg is a cosmopolitan city in South Africa, and is the commercial capital of the country. Poverty and crime are major concerns, meaning that personal security must be a priority. The climate in the area is one of the finest anywhere in the world, with abundant sunshine and warm temperatures for around nine months of the year.

Johannesburg is the biggest city in South Africa. In 1886, owing to gold being discovered in Johannesburg, the city became infamously renowned as the “City of Gold”. The country has 11 official languages, many of which you will hear in the streets of Johannesburg. While tourists may be concerned about the extreme levels often crime and poverty frequently televised, it is a beautiful city with many exciting opportunities.
