Northport is a slightly smaller city adjacent to the bustling college town of Tuscaloosa. The most important thing to know about moving to this area is that it is home to the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa campus), and is a pivotal part of southern collegiate football culture. The annual Iron Bowl, between UA and Auburn University, is a defining event for this area. It’s in the center of the state, making it accessible to all parts of Alabama, and is comfortably close to the city of Birmingham, which expands residents’ options for work and recreation.
