McKinleyville is small, population-wise, but the town has a lot of character. It is completely surrounded by towering redwoods, and has been used as a backdrop for many famous franchises, including Star Wars and Jurassic Park. There is a lot of local charm about the city, and it is connected to the other towns in Humboldt County through a freeway. One large benefit, other than the gorgeous natural beauty of the town, is the complete lack of traffic.
If someone intends on moving here, they should know its community and local resources. Mckinleyville is a developing city, consisting mostly of local businesses with the occasional chain restaurant or movie theater. In spite of this, the cost of living isn’t particularly high, especially when compared to other places like Arcata or Eureka.
