Ilonggos use buses and public utility vehicles, commonly known as jeepneys, to travel in long distances, and tricycles for short distances. Iloilo City is the city of love in the Philippines because Ilonggos are said to be loving and caring. Ilonggos also use the language Hiligaynon in communicating with their fellow Ilonggos only in the city because languages in the provinces are a little different.

Iloilo City is one of the most developed cities in the Philippines, which is currently governed by Mayor Jerry Trenas. It is the “City of Love” and particularly known for its festival, Dinagyang. Its people are known as sweet spoken people due to the accent of their language, which is called “Hiligaynon”.

Iloilo City is a safe city and has a very competent local government led by Mayor Jerry Treñas. The city is clean, the people are well-mannered, disciplined, and hospitable. If moving to Iloilo City, it is necessary to learn the local language, which is Ilonggo, to communicate better with the local folks. If you don’t know Ilonggo, it is also acceptable to use English or Tagalog, since most Ilonggos are multilingual.

Before moving to Iloilo City, you should learn how to speak our local dialect which is “Ilonggo”. You should get ready to ride a local jeepney as your public transportation. You should also need to prepare a map as roads and streets are a bit complicated. please know that “Ilongos” love eating and food celebration so be ready with your diet.

Iloilo City is the City of Love of the Philippines. It is because we, the ilonggos, have our own dialect and some tourists find it very sweet to hear. Iloilo has also one of the best dishes you’ll ever tasted. Lapaz Batchoy and KBL (Kadyos-Baboy-Langka) is known as the best dishes by some of the tourists.

Know a bit of the language like basic greetings. And he/she must also be considerate for the country’s culture and specific lifestyle. In societal terms, being friendly and cordial is necessary to avoid altercations. be perceptive on the surroundings as you are a foreigner of a place.
