Liverpool has a wonderful historic reputation, firstly as an economically thriving seaport, and then as a cultural hub for art, music and poetry, but has had to face up to well publicized decline in the past 50 years. However, the cycle of renewal has started once more, as new businesses have invested in jobs, and new houses have been built in the suburbs. Liverpool is less than an hour’s journey away from Manchester, a city with a similar history and which is now a beta world city, and Liverpool residents also have the benefit of being close to the sea, and to many beautiful beaches. It is a great place to live.

In moving to Liverpool you should consider the weather, employment and the area. The better areas tend to be towards the city centre. I would avoid areas beyond Queens Drive which are more likely to be socially deprived and have worse transport links into the city. There are a lot of jobs in various industrial estates but the majority of white collar jobs are in the centre. Liverpool has a strong service industry and the people have a very cheery disposition.

If someone moves to Liverpool to attend University, Liverpool has an excellent night-life, entertainment and music sector and is a very friendly city. If someone moves to Liverpool for employment, they should consider where they would like to live as there are many boroughs in Liverpool, all of which have different personalities.
