Jefferson City has a relatively low cost of living, high graduation rates, and decent weather. It is the capital of Missouri. Jefferson City was chosen as the site of a state prison. That prison opened in 1836 and was called the Missouri State Penitentiary. This penitentiary was home to multiple infamous Americans, including former heavyweight champion Sonny Liston, assassin James Earl Ray, and bank robber Pretty Boy Floyd.

While there doesn’t seem to be much on the surface level, Jefferson City is actually a very fun and exciting little town. It is a quiet, but still bustling place, perfect for raising children and creating a family. As someone who is lived there all her life, I’ve lived a good and happy 20 years in Jefferson City. My only complaint is that there isn’t much to do for a rambunctious teenager.
