Just a quick tip for anyone out there looking to move to Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria; stay curious!

As a native born and raised in Nigeria’s young capital, I can say that the biggest mistake visitors or new settlers make is limiting their experience of the capital to the very small Central Business District. Abuja is such a peaceful, beautiful scenic town with cascading mountains forming a protective shield that gives room for inhabitants to explore the sights, sounds and taste of the city. Cost of living is considerably priced for city life and you will find that your expenses can be well managed on an average budget of $750 to $1500 each month for a family of 4. Housing is usually priced annually for long-term settlers. Business travelers have a myriad of hotel and short stay boutiques to pick from that can range from pocket friendly $40 to top of the range $150 – $250 spots.

Again, stay curious, stay adventurous and safe and as we say in Nigeria; “Shine your eyes!”

The cost of living is high in Abuja. Mortgage is high. Security is good here. It’s a beautiful city with modern infrastructure. Movement can be frustrating without your personal car.
Beautiful environment, good for tourism. Corruption is high here. Be warned.

It’s beautiful and cosmopolitan. Food and transportation are cheap but housing, very expensive. Great night life and you need to be innovative. Get a professional skill. Most needed skills are real estate, building, food vending, and event planning.

It is a safe place with minimum traffic. Lots of restaurants with great food and schools near each district. Housing allowance is quite pricey and you need to have a job to survive the daily hassle. Electricity is not available 24/7 in most places but the city is mostly filled with nice people.

Abuja is a large and diverse city, with some parts of it being quite rural and other parts being very urban. Also, it is the country’s administrative capital. The cost of renting an apartment here, as in most places, is greatly influenced by how close it is to the “town”.

The serenity of the environment, level exposure of the people living around us such that the communication among us is simple, swift and interesting. Also, the basic infrastructure needed for survival are easily assessed in the environment. Our greatest fear in the neighborhood is the recurrent robbery which causes loss of property and lives.

My city is a business city which means the city is a modern city and owning or renting a house in the city is expensive. Secondly, the city has good commercial roads that is, movement from one place to another is with ease. Finally, It’s a city that has provided and standard social amenities such as; standard electricity supply e.t.c.

In moving here, you have to be sure that the process altogether doesn’t put you at any financial risk. This is in no small part due to the high costs of housing and almost extortionate maintenance fees and taxes. Although, living in my city has been linked with higher levels of productivity as it’s the modernized hub of commerce in my country.

Be aware of the high cost of living in Abuja. There are many jobs but the housing, particularly in terms of renting, is quite costly but negotiable. Road networks are good, electricity is stable and water supply is good and clean. People here are friendly but mostly keep to themselves, so you would not have to bother about nosy neighbors.

Abuja is the capital of Nigeria and it is a big city. It is also very populous, although not as populous as Lagos. It is mainly in north-central of Nigeria. Housing prices are too high according to most people’s opinions.

Abuja is the capital of Federal Capital Territory. Abuja is at the heart of Nigeria map, which surrounded by some neighbouring states such as Niger state, Kogi state and Nasarawa state. There are six area councils in Abuja namely; Kuje, Gwagwalada, Bwari, Abaji, Municipal and Kwali.  Abuja rises up behind the Presidential Complex, which houses the residence and offices of the Nigerian president in the Three Arms Zone on the eastern edge of the city.  Nearby are the National Assembly and the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Abuja has around 3.3 million people with a landmass just over 1000 sq km is somewhat densely populated. My city has lots of skyscrapers, most of which are apartment buildings. Abuja also has numerous recreational parks and hotels. But what I appreciate most about Abuja is the cultural diversity. this is mostly exhibited in restaurants with all kinds of cuisine.

Praise, says: 2020

Anyone moving to Abuja, Nigeria, must be aware of the high cost of living in the city. The cost of accommodation is high, but on the bright side, there is a wide variety of relatively cheap food and an endless supply of fruits. The weather is quite bright and beautiful, although the rainy season tends to come with a lot of wind, therefore one must be careful to get a well-built apartment, to avoid concerns when the rains come.
