Just a quick tip for anyone out there looking to move to Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria; stay curious!

As a native born and raised in Nigeria’s young capital, I can say that the biggest mistake visitors or new settlers make is limiting their experience of the capital to the very small Central Business District. Abuja is such a peaceful, beautiful scenic town with cascading mountains forming a protective shield that gives room for inhabitants to explore the sights, sounds and taste of the city. Cost of living is considerably priced for city life and you will find that your expenses can be well managed on an average budget of $750 to $1500 each month for a family of 4. Housing is usually priced annually for long-term settlers. Business travelers have a myriad of hotel and short stay boutiques to pick from that can range from pocket friendly $40 to top of the range $150 – $250 spots.

The staycation and adventure seekers can learn more from content creators such as @AbujaCityTourist, @SeeAbuja @WakawakaNnenna. Also visits to the Abuja Arts and Crafts Village would open a world or treasures and rare art finds from across the continent.

Again, stay curious, stay adventurous and safe and as we say in Nigeria; “Shine your eyes!”

Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria which was created by a Presidential decree in the mid 70s. The seat of government permanently relocated to Abuja in 1991 after nearly two decades of constructing the new city virtually from the scratch. Today, Abuja has evolved into a huge cosmopolitan city with very wide roads, well planned districts and a range of hotels, shopping, eateries and entertainment centers. Iconic at the heart of Abuja are the National Mosque and the National Christians while Aso Rock which overlooks the Presidential Villa is conspicuous from most parts of the city.

The standard of living in the city of Abuja, Nigeria, is quite high. In comparison to other states in the country and as the capital, it has the highest standard of living. Therefore, the residents do not expect to obtain foodstuffs and other basic necessities at the same price as states such as Oyo, Lagos, and the rest of them.

If you’re considering moving to Abuja, it has just one major mall. This can be off putting to some, as a major city having just one mall can make it look as though the city is boring. In spite of this though, Abuja has a lot of places to get good food.

Conducive environment and friendly weather. Good connecting road networks and easy to access shopping malls. Good internet services and perfect network connectivity. my city is a very religious city. We also observe public holidays and memorial days such as armed forces remembrance day, which comes up 1st January yearly and the country’s independence day, which is usually celebrated on October one yearly.

Abuja has something to offer all: good weather (generally hot with a rainy season), green spaces, high-end restaurants, luxury hotels, designer shops, large malls, cinemas and a colorful nightlife to name but a few. There is a big expat community in Abuja, from a variety of nations. If you are looking for more of a “western” lifestyle you’ll find it in Abuja. If you prefer more of a “local” life you’ll also find that here. The bottom line is: Abuja offers an excellent quality of life for all.

A person moving here should be conversant with the market areas, transport schedules and more especially will need to be security conscious seeing we live in dangerous times. there is need for health consciousness in what we eat as most of the food supply needs adequate sterilization.

Abuja is the capital of Nigeria and it is a big city. It is also very populous, although not as populous as Lagos. It is mainly in north-central of Nigeria. Housing prices are too high according to most people’s opinions.

There is inadequate electricity. The chances of getting a bus when going to work every morning is so slim because of the multitude that stays in the city. The unstable prices in public transport cannot be over emphasized. The association of drivers literarily hold meetings every week to either hike or reduce transportation fees.

The popular bus-stops know are Berger, Jabi Park, Zuba and Area 1. Central Business District is the location for most companies and government bodies in Abuja. Although Abuja is an English-speaking city, you will probably want to learn how to speak Hausa as most local shops and stores are owned by Hausa merchants.
