If you’re moving to Santa Marta, Colombia you’ll need to dress for extreme heat averaging upper 80 degrees most of the time. Rainy season is August through November (heavy rainfall but clears up nicely during each day). Windy season starts around December and lasts for a few months. Amazing sunsets and numerous beaches, many restaurants and entertainment for tourists. Some areas are noisy until the early hours of the morning with party goers and loud music.

Santa Marta is a city full of beaches and beauty, and it would be an ideal place if it had better urban organization. All over the world neighborhoods are looked after and helped by the government according to the socio economic condition of the people who reside there, but in this city the concentration of power is so big that the local authorities only care of the places they live. We have a huge number of unpaved roads in low income areas, informal labor that blocks transportation and alleyways, and the classist development projects in the long run only benefit the elite.
