Bhubaneshwar is the capital of the Indian state of Orissa. The city has a history of over 3000 years starting with the Mahamegha-bahana Chedi dynasty who had Sisupalgarh near present-day Bhubaneswar as their capital. Bhubaneswar’s possession of magnificent sculptures and architectural heritage, coupled with the sanctity as Ekamra Kshetra make this one of the great religious centres of Orissa since early medieval days. With its large number of Hindu temples (over 600 in number), Bhubaneswar is often referred to as the Temple City of India and together with Puri and Konark it forms the Swarna Tribhuja (Golden Triangle), one of the most visited destinations in eastern part of India.

Bhubaneswar is the city of temples. It has a historical background with caves and temples that are thousands of years old. My city is also a very modern city with fine examples of modern art and architecture with a distinct signature of its own. People here are always warm and welcoming to tourists all over the world.

The city consists mainly of native speakers of Odia, which may pose some challenge to an outsider in terms of communication. The people are friendly and welcoming. The sculptures and carvings along with Buddhist and Jain caves dating back many centuries are some of the attractions for the tourists and visitors. The warmth of the people of the city makes it an appealing place.

Bhubaneswar is the capital of Odisha which is the temple city of india. Here one of the four char dhams is present which is a great attraction for every citizen. Many other temples which are built from sandstone are dotted too. Jain antiques and indigenous paintings fill the Odisha state museum. Places to visit also include Lingaraj temple, Udaygiri, Khandagiri etc.
