Wimbledon is probably best known for the tennis tournament held here each summer, but actually the All England Lawn Tennis Club is closer to Southfields. So if you want to see the tennis, get off the tube at Southfields station and walk. Much cheaper than taking a taxi from Wimbledon station. Otherwise Wimbledon is a low-rise suburban neighbourhood with many parks and green spaces. It is sought-after as a place to live, on the fringe of London with many safe communities, good schools, a wide range of housing and well-supported amenities, with a Public Library and a Police Station. Wimbledon Village is the more expensive location, full of restaurants and bars.
