Fredericksburg, Virginia, is a diverse community, filled with people of various ages, ethnicities, and life experiences. The historic nature of the town, proximate to the Rappahannock River and a Civil War battlefield, gives it a charm unlike many others in America. It also features the childhood home of George Washington, Ferry Farm, and a museum dedicated to President James Monroe.

In Fredericksburg, many people like to spend time in the downtown, which is near the Rappahannock River. Downtown Fredericksburg has many fun and interesting small businesses, such as a bike shop called “BikeWorks”, a cupcake bakery, and an Irish shop called “Irish Eyes”. There are also several different restaurants, offering a variety of meal options. Additionally, it seems to me that Downtown Fredericksburg has been especially populated by antiques stores, bookstores, and coffee shops, which is good news for me, as I love all three.

Fredericksburg is a beautiful gem in central Virginia. Potential residents should know the two Virginia Railway Express (VRE) stops conveniently within the city. The VRE makes for an easy commute into the congested DC area. One can escape expensive city living while residing just a short train ride away!
