Someone moving to Fredericksburg should know the area is steeped in American history, from before the American Revolution to present day. This could include some sensitive subjects, as the original slave block was recently removed from a downtown street and moved to a local museum. The area was also the home of George Washington as a boy and a travelling location due to the amazing Rappahannock River.

In Fredericksburg, many people like to spend time in the downtown, which is near the Rappahannock River. Downtown Fredericksburg has many fun and interesting small businesses, such as a bike shop called “BikeWorks”, a cupcake bakery, and an Irish shop called “Irish Eyes”. There are also several different restaurants, offering a variety of meal options. Additionally, it seems to me that Downtown Fredericksburg has been especially populated by antiques stores, bookstores, and coffee shops, which is good news for me, as I love all three.

There’s currently a great deal of construction occurring in Downtown Fredericksburg. This is great, because it means that my city is expanding and creating new opportunities. My family enjoys looking out for the large crane when we go on lovely walks downtown, which we often do in the evening, when we can watch the sunset over the river.
