Is Madison boring? Is it fun? How do people relax in their free time? From playing and watching live sports to listening to live music to volunteering, here's what four local experts had to say about things to do in Madison, Wisconsin.

If you’re moving to Madison, you absolutely love the amazing variety and sheer number of bars and restaurants. There are so many live music concerts going on throughout the week and there is always something to do.

HELPFUL REPORT

The place in which I live is a college town, meaning that the majority of businesses and services cater to a young and educated base. The most popular area to which people go is State Street, which features numerous chic restaurants and stores. I live near this beloved street, where there is always something going on, including live music, college activities or opportunities to eat delicious and often foreign food. Madison, Wisconsin, is famous for its renowned university and hip, inclusive atmosphere.

Someone moving to Madison should know the city is near two lakes. There are also amazing bike paths throughout the city, for those who wish to not use public transportation, or own a vehicle. These two tie together nicely, as taking the bike paths can be a very scenic route to work, shopping, or a leisurely trip.

If moving to Madison, WI, the first thing know is that winters can be pretty brutal. If the climate doesn’t scare you, then ask yourself if you enjoy any of the following activities: spending the day at a lake, college sports, eating cheese and drinking beer. If you said “yes” to any of the previous activities, then you might be a great addition to the lovely city of Madison.
