My city is Thrissur, which is the Cultural Capital of Kerala, where one can enjoy to the maximum with beautiful places and views from forts to most modern buildings. This city is well-known by the famous “Thrissur Pooram” and “Pulikali”. The city also surprises people with the existence of large number of clothing merchants and textile shops.

Thrissur is a lovely city, in terms of accessibility, availability of services, friendliness of locals and that people are amicable. One thing that must be kept in mind is the difficulty that people may face in communication which can also be overcome if one is fluent in the English language. Apart from that, Thrissur is very welcoming to outsiders and relatively less discriminating of foreigners. Thrissur is known as the cultural capital of Kerala, making it a city of historic and religious importance. The city has several temples and churches situated quite close to each other making the people of Thrissur tolerant towards all religions. Thrissur is also a developed city, containing multiple malls, multiplexes, high rise buildings and shopping centers and schools, hospitals and colleges.

Trichur is in the center of Kerala state, which is otherwise known as “God’s own Country.” It is a green town with lots of rain throughout the year; bring an umbrella. The town is centered around a circle, which is six km wide. You can walk around it. Most of the shops are on this roundabout.

Know about all the knock-off products of famous brands. My hometown is quite famous (or should I say notorious?) for producing large amounts of fake products based on famous brands like Nike, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger etc. that look almost identical to the actual products. While most shopkeepers don’t try to hide that their products are dupes, some nefarious people might try and scam you, claiming that they are in fact the real deal (especially if they realize that you’re a foreigner).
