This is a high desert town in it’s own valley. Built around the China Lake Naval Base. Good quality of life. Hot in the summer. Beautiful in fall, winter and spring. Cost of living and housing is lower than most of California. Conservative but unfortunately it is in democrat run California.
Ridgecrest, CA is perfect for those who love mountain biking and off-roading. If you like nightlife, this city is not for you. There is very little to do and nothing for kids, so you have to be prepared to drive hours out of town for any sort of activity. If you’re a foodie, you will not be happy. Mostly fast food, diners, and a couple of Asian and Mexican restaurants. The only place to buy clothes is WalMart and Marshalls but they usually have very little in plus sized clothing, nor do they carry special occasion attire. We have A LOT of earthquakes and even had back-to-back 6.4 and 7.1 quakes in 2019. It is HOT, 110+F in summer. Many homes only have swamp coolers.
