Bacolod is the capital City or Negros Occidental in the Philippines. It is known as the city of smiles because or it’s MassKara Festival a Mardi Gras-like festival and a spectacularly vivid mix of dance, color and music. The name Bacolod was derived from the Hiligaynon word, Buklod meaning stonehill, as the city was first set up on a stonehill. Due to Moro (Muslim) raids it was then transferred to the shoreline. The original town is now called Daan-Banwa meaning Old Town.

Bacolod City is also known as the City of Smiles. Every October, we celebrate Masskara Festival and that, people from different barangays would wear dazzling costumes to represent a story. Each story will be performed through dancing. All performances will be held in the center of the city which is the Bacolod Plaza. People from other regions will come to witness and join the celebration. So if you’re planning to move in Bacolod, you will enjoy the place where smiling citizens exist.

Bacolod City is well known for a City of Smile. Every October, we celebrated the Masskara Festival. It’s a one month long celebration. A lot of activities happens lie street dancing competition from schools, every barangays. An electric masskara was held at Lacson Street. And every April, Bacolod City put up a Panaad Festival gathered by different cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental.

Bacolod City is the City of Smiles. People here love celebrations like our yearly Mardi gras called Masskara Festival, that happens every October. A lot of tourists visit our city since we have parties, concerts, and the highlight which is street dancing. You can feel the warm welcome from everyone, with all smiles on their faces. We are also famous for our deliciously sweet desserts. People love our napoleones, which is a layered puff pastry with custard cream inside. You will surely love to visit my city.
