From dinosaurs to explorers to wars, here's what two local experts had to say about the history of Legazpi City, Albay.

Someone should know Legazpi is a fun and beautiful place to move. The famous Mayon Volcano can be found here, spreading its beauty across the city. There is a lot of tourist destinations and malls to discover and explore to. It is rich with cultural heritage and people have many ways to celebrate life e.g., celebrating the Magayon Festival, Ibalong (which is the highlight and history of Legazpi).

Mt. Mayon, the perfectly cone-shaped wonder of a volcano in Bicol, is one of the Philippines’ greatest attractions. But what you can see and read from the pages of your textbooks couldn’t do justice to one of the most interesting volcanoes in the world. Mt. Mayon is in the Bicol Region, particularly in Legazpi, Albay. The volcano is referred to in those parts as “Bulkang Magayon” which literally translates to “beautiful volcano”. They say that the name of Mayon comes from an ancient regional folktale about a princess named Daragang Magayon.
