There’s one little card which rules over Victoria’s entire public transport system—the Myki. Mykis are available for purchase at every major station, and can be topped-up at smart Myki machines throughout Hawthorn. But board public transport without one and you’ll find yourself fishing out your wallet and paying some pretty hefty fines. The other thing to be wary of is Victoria’s finicky weather—she’ll pretend you’re in for a lovely sunny day and then rain all over your parade. Never believe a sunny sky in Hawthorn; always have an umbrella (or brolly) on hand and don’t board any bus, tram or train without a fully topped-up Myki in your pocket!
