Diversity and Racism in Milton Keynes, England

Milton Keynes is a ‘New Town’ founded to accommodate population over-spill from ever-expanding London. It is characterised by a highly regular, segregated network of roads and cycle paths and is particularly famous for its many roundabouts. As a result, the town has a reputation for being devoid of character and somewhat soulless. However, the modern town incorporated numerous existing towns and villages, which still preserve the area’s rural history in their architecture, and ‘the city’, as locals term it, contains many picturesque parks and lakes which attest to the planner’s ambition to create a ‘city in the forest’.
Milton Keynes is a large town with multicultural background, a population of about 300,000 people. It is beautiful, very easy to get around and has lots of jobs due to a vast majority of companies. Milton Keynes has one of the more successful economies in the UK, ranked highly against a number of criteria.
