Cape Town was the first major city in the world to have almost run out of drinking water, as a result there have been strict water usage measures put in place. Even though at present, dams in the Western Cape are near capacity, these restrictions remain in place and the local government refuses to lower the tariffs on local residents.
Cape Town is one of three South African capital cities, and lies just southeast of the southernmost tip of Africa. This legislative capital is an ever-growing social and professional hub based at the foot of the Table Mountain. Tap water is drinkable, but be mindful of your possessions – these are two useful tips! The country as a whole is deeply rooted in a complex cultural and political history – a history which can be understood through the numerous museums and monuments hosted by the city. Cape Town, at its core, teaches one not only from whence they came, but also to where they can go.
