Bakersfield is an very conservative city. It’s in the southern part of the San Joaquin Valley in Southern California. During the summertime, it gets very hot, and in the winter, it gets cold. There is a lot of pollution, and many days, the air quality is bad. Sometimes it is so bad that we cannot burn firewood in our fireplaces.

Bakersfield is a rapidly growing city in California about two hours north of Los Angeles. This city has the second worst pollution in the country, next to Fresno. Bakersfield is known for its agricultural communities which have really built this city into what it is today; almost one million residents today.
