In Bakersfield, sadly, there are many homeless people roaming the streets. This can be off-putting to some people. On the upside, living prices are much cheaper than most other places in California. Lastly, the weather is always over ninety degrees. Upon first moving to Bakersfield, I thought it might cool down in the evening, but the high temperatures persist into the night.

Bakersfield is an very conservative city. It’s in the southern part of the San Joaquin Valley in Southern California. During the summertime, it gets very hot, and in the winter, it gets cold. There is a lot of pollution, and many days, the air quality is bad. Sometimes it is so bad that we cannot burn firewood in our fireplaces.

The heat of summer is something a resident of Bakersfield will always remember, that and the overwhelming desire to leave. Sometimes called the armpit of California, Bakersfield has produced some quality items, such as Korn and Buck Owens. While in a county that is largely Republican, Bakersfield has proven to foster traits of diversity and inclusivity. A key component of Bakersfield lifestyle is the wide variety of international food options available to residents. Whether you have special dietary needs, or are looking for a specific international food choice, Bakersfield has plenty of options.

The first thing someone moving to Bakersfield should be made aware of is the city’s extreme weather in summer. Temperatures can climb above 110 degrees on the hottest days of the season. The city’s winters, however, are relatively mild. The temperature rarely dips below 50 degrees and only once in the last 25 years has the city seen snow.

The hot springs close by here are a famous tourist attraction. We love to beat the heat by getting in are pools. It gets really hot here so make sure if you sunburn to bring sunscreen. we have water parks that are great for all kids. The best thing year-round is probably the county fair.
