My city, Kottayam is known for different names like “City of letters” and “City of latex”. It is the first fully literate district in India and is one of the two main tourist sites that offer backwaters. One speciality of my city is that most of the schools and churches are built by the British before independence. The first school, and the first arts-college in Kerala, reside in my city.

Our city is famous for its beautiful landscape and hill stations. It is predominantly a Christian region with many famous churches that attract a lot of tourists yearly. The major source of income is through rubber plantations. Malayalam is the language used by the commons while a lot of the educated ones speak fluent English too.

Land of backwaters where you can relish the beauty of nature along with the tasty culinaries which prompts you to visit again. The city provides ample sites to be in a place of religious harmony in the form of temples, churches and mosques. The place reminds you of the tagline “God’s own Country”.

Kerala, the state I reside in, is ‘God’s own country’. The people in Kottayam have hearts of gold which is extremely necessary in a society today. Anyone moving to Kottayam would find the process comfortable because of the wide range of services and facilities available here. However, unlike metropolitan cities like Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam does not have major food delivery services like Swiggy, Zomato, UberEats and the like.
