Dumaguete is known to many as the City of Gentle People and is the capital of Negros Oriental — a province in the middle region of the Philippines. It is a small yet progressive city with easy-access to landmarks like schools, parks, churches, department stores and malls, markets, hotels, and restaurants; all of which can be reached through a few-minute walk or ride, since they are literally clustered within the city. Famous for its peaceful vibe coupled with the light hustle of city life, it attracts a lot of foreign and local tourists and is a great place for retirees.

Our City is the CIty of Gentle People. Our notable landmark is Silliman University which will welcome you upon arriving since it is near the port. We have a lot of Historical and tourist destination such as the Old Cathedral Church and good beaches. The city is small that you can take a tour within a day.

People moving to my Dumaguete City would be welcomed by hospitable people as my city is the City of Gentle people. We do have a small City that’s why everyone almost know each other and mostly friends with one another. Students comprises most of the population since this is a university town with at least four universities in our city. We are also very religious with numerous spiritual and religious gatherings year-round. For sure, people moving here would adapt and adjust quickly as this is a laid back and peaceful place.

The city is etymologically known to be ‘captivating’. With its gentle people, everyone will not feel like a pariah. We welcome everyone. The city is gearing towards industrialization, yet with due regard to the natural environment’s preservation and development. The people in the area are religious and warm. It is the best place for retirement.
