While quality of life is something of an elusive or ill-defined concept, it can be boiled down to "Is Cardiff a good place to live?" or "Is Cardiff a bad place to live?" Here's what four local experts had to say about quality of life and overall happiness in Cardiff, Wales.

Anyone moving to this quiet natured, small capital city should know the amount people care about rugby. Be aware on some days it’s inexcusable to go outside without sporting a dragon plastered ensemble and its unfathomable to get a pub seat whilst it’s occurring. I’d recommend staying inside during the surrounding day’s hard-liquor onslaught.

The city has a vast array of beautiful sights and is friendly, eclectic and multicultural. It is also approximately 20 minutes away from the seaside resort of Barry Island and you are able to reach mountainous countryside within the same time period. The city centre has been renovated in recent years and now comprises of three shopping centres surrounded by the ancient walls of Cardiff Castle. The city is an amalgamation of historic and modern ingenuity and I would thoroughly recommend Cardiff as a place to live.

Cardiff is known by its occupants as a friendly and diverse city. Although it is a reasonably small city compared to other cities within the UK, there are plenty of places to go and things to do. I recommend some of our culturally enriching activities such as visiting the National Museum, Cardiff Castle or the Wales Millennium Centre. Cardiff is a fun, vibrant place and it is extremely well-suited to students, young people and new families.

Cardiff is a wonderful place for anyone who desires the perks of living in a capital city, but doesn’t want to feel stifled by the busyness of city life. There is plenty of natural beauty around, and people are warm and sociable. In comparison to other hubs in the UK, it is easy on the wallet!
