One of the best places to live in southern England, Winchester is steeped in history, has one of the greatest and airiest cathedrals, King Arthur’s round table and plenty of countryside to explore. From the city centre you can walk in every direction. Into the South Downs National Park, along the river Itchen, a famous chalk stream, and the Watercress Way railway path to Kings Worthy and Avington, to Farley Mount and on the Clarendon Way to the neighboring cathedral city of Salisbury. Come and explore.

Very ancient city. Was once the capital of England. So many historic buildings dating back to the ancient Wessex period. The river Itchen runs through the lower part of the city which is also famous for it’s Cathedral. The city is small & surrounded by countryside. It’s very picturesque & friendly.
