The History of Northampton, England

Northampton is a very old, large town which is famous for its shoe making history. It has a lot of beautiful parks and fascinating history. For example, there is the Queen Eleanor Cross which has recently had some conservation work completed. It is one of only twelve crosses built to show the stopping place of the funeral procession in 1290.
Northampton is a large city in the East Midlands in England, a fairly historical city with a shoemaking past and is famous for producing Weetabix and Carlsberg. We have several parks including Sywell country park and Abington Park which has a museum, one of two in our town. Northampton was also the capital of England from 913 for over 200 years and is the largest town in England that does not have city status.
