Coquitlam is often referred to as a suburb of Vancouver, though it is actually a large and varied city of it’s own. Coquitlam has sprawling residential areas as well as large shopping complexes and community buildings. The north end of Coquitlam is mainly inhabited by wealthy retirees, while he south end is more suitable for middle-class families. Both of these areas have thriving commercial businesses to be found in clusters by the main roads, chiefly along Lougheed Highway.
Coquitlam, BC, is a lovely suburb of the Lower Mainland. It boasts a number of scenic walking trails which range in difficulty from beginner to advanced. It is an approximately one hour Sky Train ride to downtown Vancouver. The Sky Train system is extremely easy to use and is considered to be world class.
