Allahabad is great city considering its warm nature, effective connectivity and general working environment the year-round. The thing to know though, is that it has a number of traditions that come off as weird to newcomers sometimes, because they seem so superficial on the front but have a deep meaning attached to them. It is also home to the biggest yearly congregation of Hindus each year who assemble on the banks of the Ganges and spend a month there living in tents as an atonement for their sins.

Prayagraj (previously known as Allahabad) is a beautiful city on the banks of river Ganga. It is one of the oldest cities in India and wandering in its streets would give you a glimpse of the different cultures and traditions of the country. The locals here are very friendly and welcome the tourists with all the kindness. Prayagraj is known for “Kumbh Mela” which is celebrated here every six years. Millions of people gather around this time to take a bath and get rid of their sins.

The old name of Prayagraj is Allahabad. My city is at the bank of river Ganga. It is known as the ‘Sangam of three rivers’ i.e., Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. There is a type of monument at Civil Lines known as Taramandal, belongs to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.
