Those who choose to move to El Paso should be forewarned that the summer temperatures can be extremely high. On a more positive note, there is very little humidity to contend with. As someone who grew up in the north, I also enjoy the fact that El Paso receives very little snowfall. The beauty of the sky makes it worth the heat.

El Paso is home to several professional sports teams: the El Paso Chihuahuas minor league baseball team, the El Paso Rhinos hockey team, the El Paso Locomotive soccer team as well as being home to the University of Texas at El Paso which features NCAA basketball and football games. El Paso is home to the Sun Bowl – the second-oldest bowl game in the country. El Paso is a great place to shop with numerous malls and outdoor marketplaces as well as “mom and pop” stores that sell culturally based items not found in many other parts of the country.

Although El Paso has a small population of roughly 682,000 people, the strong infrastructure of the highways, including interstate 10, that runs as far west as California and as far east as Louisiana, the airports, and the amtrak passenger rails, create opportunity for other people to travel to and through the city. The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is a R1 Doctoral University due to its very high research activity. UTEP also offers an Engineering program that is the nation’s top producer of Hispanic engineers with M.S and Ph.D. degrees.

Many people who move to El Paso often wonder how the climate is. El Paso is a dessert, and therefore it is very dry. During the Summer temperatures can reach up to 105 degrees, and Winter barely receives any snow. I would not recommend El Paso for those who are fans of a cold climate, or those with sensitive skin.

El Paso is known for its really hot temperatures and dry climates. The people are friendly and will help you if you’re lost. When finding really good Mexican food, always know the elderly women make it the best! The news, however, does stretch the truth when it comes to immigration and politics.

Someone moving to El Paso should know the city is more than 80% Hispanic and has a population of about 600,000. They should also know that the weather is hot and dry, and although it is quite sunny all year long, there are a lot of windy days. You must love Mexican food, as you will find a lot of it everywhere you go. Above all, someone moving here should know people in El Paso are some of the friendliest in the world!

We have four seasons, but none are ever severe. I must say though that summers are hot, but not as hot as cities in Arizona. El Pasoans are very friendly and warm. We don’t have many cultural events, but it has improved in the last 10 years. We are said to have the best Mexican food restaurants in the country.

Anyone moving here should know it it hot, lots of spots to admire the city lights at night or to view the city during the day. Also, the food is amazing, authentic Mexican food is made everyday in the city, and this is one of the friendliest and family oriented places.
