Are there taxis in York? What about scooters? What are the public transportation options? Here's what four local experts had to say about transportation methods in York, England.

With loads of history from the Romans and Vikings to the Railways of the industrial revolution York is a year round tourist destination. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to accommodate the visitors with walking and bus tours for most tastes. Hosting several large horse racing events through the summer there are days when the mood of the city changes to more hedonistic than historic.

HELPFUL REPORT

Historic walled town with many pubs and restaurants catering to the tourist crowd. Two good universities. Easy to get around on your bike. Generally flat. Very easy city to live in. Well connected to London on a fast train (although quite expensive). Expensive housing market both to buy and rent.

York is a very vibrant city with a thriving cultural scene. There’s plenty on offer for people of all ages, particularly families and Viking fans. If you’re looking for better value for money, consider living outside of the outer ring road, where you’ll find a number of pretty villages offering excellent transport links into the city centre.

York is a glorious city filled with history and architecture. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, providing stunning walks and cycle routes. In the centre of York stands the York Minster, one of York’s most iconic landmarks. If you are lucky enough to visit York, I can guarantee that you will want to return time and time again!
