While quality of life is something of an elusive or ill-defined concept, it can be boiled down to "Is York a good place to live?" or "Is York a bad place to live?" Here's what two local experts had to say about quality of life and overall happiness in York, England.

York is home to plenty of small shops, sweet cafés and local pubs that have a friendly, homey atmosphere. It is easy to fit in with the charming public and is a great place for new experiences. Summer weather is desirable gorgeous and plenty of parks and garden have beautiful scenery that make York an ideal place.

Generally, house prices in York are quite expensive, especially if you want to live in the centre. However, York is very small, and all the areas within the city boundaries are very nice. Don’t be afraid to live a bit further out to achieve a cheaper house price. I would recommend the Bootham area for nice houses and cheaper prices.
