Longmont is a quaint city with an all inclusive feel. Although most cities on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains seem to blur together, Longmont is set apart by the surrounding open space. Any where someone might need to go in Longmont can be reached in about 10 minutes of driving from where they are currently located. The city has a robust main street with locally owned bakeries and ice cream shops. My favorite bakery is Aimes Love Gluten Free Bakery which is on Main Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue. My favorite treat to eat at Aimes Love Gluten Free Bakery is their Smutter Cinnamon Roll, made with marshmallows and Nutella. It is full of chocolate gooey goodness.

In Longmont, residents are allowed to raise chickens in their backyard. The main regulations include a limit to four hens and no roosters. The chickens must not be housed between the rear of the home structure and the front property line. Residents must also obtain permission from any neighbor with whom they share a fence, if they intend to raise free range chickens. No permission is needed for a chicken run. Longmont is one of the few towns in Colorado that has maintained its original charm and has not been over built with the influx of population since the 1980’s.
